  • A Large Egyptian Alabaster Canopic Jar Lid
  • Alabaster
  • Height 7 1/8 in. 21.7 cm.
perhaps from the burial equipment of a Sacred Memphite Apis Bull, in the form of falcon-headed Qebusenuf, guardian of the intestines, wearing an enveloping wig, the large rounded eyes finely carved, the cylindrical interior carefully hollowed out.

Condition

Very good, larger chip on the flanged underside as shown, the surface of the crown quite worn and with several superficial stress cracks, small chips on the beak and eyes.
