Description

  • An Egyptian Greywacke Bust of a Man
  • Greywacke
  • Height 10 1/4 in. 26.1 cm.
from a striding figure, probably once holding a figure of Osiris before him, and wearing a wide wig falling to the top of the back pillar, his broad face with full lips deeply indented at the corners, and wide-set almond shaped eyes with long contoured eyebrows and cosmetic lines in relief, the column of inscription on the back pillar carefully erased in antiquity.

Condition

Good and as shown and described. Note ancient damage to the nose and scratches on proper left cheek. There is a small ancient flaw or chip on the crown of the head.
