Condition

A pin hole is visible to the sheet top right. There is a diagonal tear 2.5cm long running from the middle of the left hand inner mount edge 11.5cm down from the top left corner. The paper has discoloured a little and there is some faint smudging to the pencil lines. Held in a dark wooden frame and under glass.

Benois produced designs for an adaptation of Fedor Dostoyevsky's The Idiot for Ida Rubenstein's dance troupe in 1925. The production was staged at the théâtre de Vaudeville in Paris.
