Description

  • wood
carved from a single plank, the broad face with tiny slit mouth, projecting nose and straight brow, the recessed eyes with applied clam shell and hair as lashes, with extensive remains of bright red pigment, the reverse recessed and with three suspension holes along the top.

Condition

Overall very good condition of the wood, the clam shell left eye shows remains of glue. The carving on the reverse indicates the eyese were originally inlaid and these shells made or may not be the originals.
