surmounted by a gilt-tooled black leather writing surface and fitted with three frieze drawers, few mounts have been removed to reveal the mark HPR for the bronzier workshop master models.
Condition
Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks to veneers and carcass consistent with age and use. Tarnishing to gilt-bronze in places. Age splits and cracks to leather top consistent with carcass movements.

Catalogue Note
The basis of the attribution to the Durand is the familiar walnut-lined drawer sides with rounded tops seen almost exclusively on this workshop's furniture. If the date of circa 1865-1870 is accepted, it means the present lot may have been made by Prosper-Guillaume or Gervais-Maxililien-Eugène Durand.
