Condition

As stated in the catalogue, this pair has been voluntarily aged by burying planks under dirt to acheive an aggressive oxidized look as well as rust to the lockplates. One can also notice extensive faux worm damage. The breche d'alep marble tops are mid-19th century and belong to the commode. Each has light scratches to surface and minor chips to edges. The bronze elements show tarnishing, and some will need to be tightened back to the carcass. The lacquer of both commodes has chips and losses, mostly to edges of drawer and doors. To one commode, there is a loss of bronze of approx. 1/2" to the lefthand side back leg just above the paw foot. Neither side door closes properly. The insides of the cabinet drawer and cupboard are extensively worn.
