the bronze elements have been dismantled to reveal the mark HL, from Ledentu's  fondry workshop, in many places.

In good condition and good presentation, with the usual tarnishing to gilt bronze. The pair has retained its original gilding and is well cast.

The artist sculptor Pierre-Henri Ledentu mastered his trade at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He participated at the yearly Salons with great success before deciding to grow his business and revenue by editing the oeuvre of other artists, like Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux.
