Condition

Overall very good condition. This desk blotter is executed in a manner which clearly draws upon Legrain’s book binding designs which were produced in the same period. The exterior leather elements in excellent condition, with light surface scratches, and rubbing to the finish. The metal overlay with some discoloration concentrated adjacent to cutouts, which appears consistent with the natural aging process of the materials. The interior is fitted with paper and leather corners, showing very light soiling, minor yellowing from age and little evidence of use. Please note the measurements of this piece as it is a large scale work. Please contact the department or visit sothebys.com for additional views of this lot.
