Description
- Jean Besnard

- incised Jean/Besnard/FRANCE
- glazed earthenware with gilt decoration
Condition
Overall excellent condition. When viewed under blacklight there are no apparent areas of prior restoration. The gilt coloration is vivid and with deep saturation. With a craquelure glaze covering the surface of the work, which is more distinct in person than it appears in the catalogue illustration. A rare early work by Besnard showing clear references to works by Ruhlmann and other French Art Deco designers of the time.
