Literature

Sam Maloof, Sam Maloof:  Woodworker, New York, 1983, p. 182 (for a related low table with cork inlays)

Condition

Overall in good original condition. The slate with some dryness, and scattered surface scratches, as seen in the catalogue illustration. The top of the bench with some evidence of sun fading, which has lightened the color of the top surfaces in contrast to the legs, which have less fading. According the design drawings, which are offered with this lot, this is a bench. However, it is easily also used as a low table. A superb example of Maloof’s work, which is appears to be a unique design for the Evans family.
