Condition

Overall very good original condition. The piece with scattered surface dirt. The raised decorative elements to the fronts of the doors in excellent condition showing very detailed execution and the works have retained most of its brilliant colors. There are minor areas of discoloration to the metal which are consistent with the natural aging of the material. The slate top with rubbing, discoloration and residue likely from use and storing the piece. With some white discoloration to the slate, as seen in the catalogue illustration. With a thorough cleaning, we feel much of this discoloration could be removed or lessened. The piece is presently fitted to stand on a custom metal base, which came when the work was when it was purchased from Paul Evans. The metal base with minor losses to paint throughout. The back of the work is not finished and therefore is intended for use against the wall. With surface dirt throughout. This piece would benefit from a sensitive cleaning. With two felt covered shelves.
