Condition
Overall very good original condition. When viewed under blacklight there are no apparent areas of prior restoration. With minor inconsistencies to the surface (visible in the catalogue illustration) and some burst air bubbles on the surface, which are inherent in this hand made work, and not an issue of the condition. With a few minute off-white house paint spots to the vase. The entire work is executed with a beautiful craquelure finish which is only alluded to in the catalogue illustration. The interior of the vase is decorated with green glaze. With some surface dirt to the interior. The overall work is white, but with a very minute green undertone. Please note the measurement of this work as it is a floor sculpture weighing approximately 50 pounds. A very early work by the artist and rare anthromorphic subject.

Catalogue Note
The present lot is a rare anthromorphic subject within the oeuvre of Jouve, and was executed early in artist's career. Jouve exhibited a related monumental series of vases based on the female form at the 1949 Salon des Artistes Décorateurs.
