Condition

The panel is very slightly bowed across the centre otherwise it is sound. The surface of the paint is intentionally uneven. There is a small fleck of paint loss and lifting to the impasto on the lamp post. Otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. Under ultraviolet light there are small flecks in places across the surface which fluoresce, these appear to be very old retouchings where small flecks of impasto have come away, these could be in the hand of the artist. There are two larger spots of fluorescence to the table in the lower left quadrant, which again appear to be in the hand of the artist. Held in a gilt and plaster wood frame.
