Condition

Unlined. There is evidence of older restorations to the reverse of the canvas in 6 areas. The surface is clean and colours bright and the work is ready to hang. Under UV: inpainting apparent in areas that correspond to repairs on the reverse: a 15” horizontal line in front of the standing woman’s face, stretching to the extreme left edge; dots of inpainting in the temple of the girl on the left and a 2” diameter area in her skirt; at the bottom of the central figure’s scarf and in spots in the surrounding sky and water; a 2” area in the central figure’s sleeve.
