Condition
Overall in good condition but with restoration to fingers. The restoration has been well acheived. Traces of dirt in places and some black spots consistent with natural veining. Good lot and good presentation; the face and hair are well carved

Catalogue Note
The Crouching Venus in the collection of the Uffizi was moved from the Villa Medici in Rome to Florence in 1787. Referred to by Pliny, it was originally thought to be a copy of a statue by Diodalses, however more recent scholars relate it to Pergamene sculptures, such as the Arrotino.
