the rim with a very finely cast and chased band of cherry laurel leaves and berries, the neck decorated with interlocked turquoise cartouches amongst floral swags and gilt-highlighted laurel branches, above four ribbon tied berried laurel-cast wreaths, the body painted in the round with nymphs and cupids allegorical of the four elements: water, earth, wind and fire, set on a square base decorated with ribbon tied and floral garland-hung porcelain circular plaques painted with exotic birds terminating on acanthus cast feet, the body signed C. LABARRE/M.S., some gilt bronze mounts have been removed, and many reveal the stamp JM.
Condition
In excellent condition, and impressive presentation. Original gilding. Porcelain unrestored.

Catalogue Note
The gilt bronze mounts on the present vase are of the highest quality of the period. The casting, gilding and chasing is extremely well-executed, and could be compared to the work of Beurdeley.
