the instrument movement inscribed Par Brevet d'Invention, Seb. & Pre Erard, 13 & 21, rue du Mail, Paris, numbered 97037 on the carcass and on the underside top left hand side, next to which is the stamp F. TURREC above indecipherable lettering.

Overall in fair condition and presentation. Some oxidation and tarnishing in places. Tarnishing mostly around paw feet. The bronze is well cast; however, there are some issues with the veneer and carcass. To the bending on front of the keyboard, there are 4 losses of kingwood veneer, each approximately 1/2” wide. The first twelve ivory keys starting from the left side have brown stains, possibly from varnish. 14 ivory keys have minute chips to their front edges. There are two circular stains to the central lectern as a result of glass or coffee cups. There is a loss of veneer of approx. 1”x ¾” to the horizontal left hand side corner of the front of the piano. Once the lid is closed, one can notice light hairline scratches. We would advise the buyer to do a French polish throughout the piece. Please note that the taller wooden bracket which holds the lid open has a loss to the bottom left hand side of approximately ¼” wide by 1x1/2” long.
