each backrest woven with gentry scenes, the seat of the settee with a scene representing "Commerce," depicted as a caravan of a monkey, horse and camel pass a lion protecting its treasure.
Condition
The carved giltwood frame of each piece has been redecorated with gold paint. The frames were most probably gilded with leaf originally. The chairs and settee are sturdy. Each foot is set with wheels. The settee shows extensive stains with grayish edges between the donkey and the standing gentleman, and the dress of a kneeling lady. Overall good condition and good presentation, with the usual wear on armrest. Upholstery settee armrests are later replacements and not made of Aubusson tapestries.
