The present model of candelabra is drawn from a drawing by Corneille Van Clève (1646-1732). The inventory after the death of the sculptor was published by F. Souchal in French Sculptors, The Reign of Louis XIV, London, 1987, vol. III, p. 398, no. 72 as "Deux chandeliers de bronze en couleur, l'un représentant un satire et un autre une femme sur un dauphin, prisés ensemble LX livres."
