Condition

The canvas has been relined. There are some strokes of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably in the gentleman's coat (some addressing craquelure) and slippers, and in the drapes in the upper left, and along parts of the extreme edges addressing frame rubbing, and some localised hairline craquelure, notably in his coat. Held in a decorative gilt 19th century style frame.
