Condition
The canvas has been relined. There are some strokes of old retouching visible under varnish, notably a 6 by 3cm area behing the white horse, and retouching addressing paint flaking in the lower part of the extreme left edge, and some faint hairline craquelure, notably in the sky above the head of the right horse. There is some yellowing of the varnish and the work would benefit from a professional surface clean. Held in a decorative coved gold-painted wood and plaster frame.
