Condition
The canvas has been laid on board. There are strokes of retouching visible under ultraviolet light in the three figures to the left, with a 7 by 2cm area to the left of the ruins, strokes in the upper-left quadrant, and along the extreme left edge, with frame rubbing the extreme left and right edges. There is some craquelure in the grey pigments behind the seated man in white, and some yellowing of the varnish. Held in a decorative gilt wood and plaster frame.
