Condition

The canvas has been relined. There are scattered spots and strokes of retouching under varnish visible under ultraviolet light, notably in the rowing boat in the right, some minor spots of paint flaking (notably at the lower edge, on the right), a stretcher mark along the left and right edges, and a dimple in the canvas in the upper right. The painting has been cleaned in the past, with some localised thinning of the paint surface (visible in the catalogue illustration).
