Acquired by the family of the present owner circa 1910
Condition
i) Original canvas. There are no signs of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, and scattered fine craquelure, notably in the lagoon behind the girl and in part of the sky.
ii) The sheet has been laid on canvas. There are a few minor strokes of old retouching in the sky to the right and above the bannisters to the right. There are some creases in the sky associated with the lining on canvas.
Both: held in decorative gold painted wood and plaster frames with shell, leaf and floral motifs.
