Condition
Original canvas. Very minor strengthening of outline along the collar of the girl and the back of the cat. Three very minor retouches near the lower left corner due to frame abrasion. Some very minor craquelure mainly in the left part. In very good condition.

Catalogue Note
This subject is clearly influenced by Maris' tutor Huib van Hove, who painted interiors inspired by the Masters of the Golden Age. Maris painted these subjects until early 1870's.
