Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has been quite recently restored. The paint layer is stable and the panel is flat. Under ultraviolet light some of the original paint reads darkly but actual retouches seem to only be evident across the top in the sky and these may be slightly broad or even unnecessary. There is a very light touch to the trees in the upper half of the picture but we do not necessarily feel that any weakening of the paint layer has occurred here. It is only above the cottages where some slight pentimenti have become visible.
