Rev. Charles Brodrick, archbishop of Cashel, Ireland (held office 1801-22)

Catalogue Note

This extensive collection of sermons on the Gospels contains numerous citations to the works of Hugh of St. Victor (c.1078-1141) and Hugh of St. Cher (c.1200-63), and a carefully referenced index. It was most probably made for a preacher, and some leaves are marked up for reading on particular days. However, the copyist's interest was not completely confined to the religious, on fol.261r he adds as an afterthought a cross-reference to De arte magica astro(no)mia astrologia.
