2 pages sur un double feuillet in-4 (32,8 x 25,3 cm), à l'encre noire sur papier vergé Hollande van Gelder.
Publié pour la première fois dans le recueil Les Yeux Fertiles en 1936, Eluard envoya son texte à René Char au mois d'août 1937. Sans doute fut-ce pour soumettre le texte à son ami en vue d'une réédition. Pourtant ce texte ne figura pas dans les recueils publiés après 1936, ni même dans Cours Naturel dont les caractéristique de révoltes et de violence soient analogues à celles de La tête contre les murs.
