manuscript on paper, 2 volumes, 8vo (251 x 179mm.), in black ink, c.227pp. (115+112pp.), illustrated throughout with full-page watercolours, pen and ink sketches, engravings and maps, contemporary near uniform green half morocco, flat spines lettered in gilt, gilt edges, some folding prints becoming detached or torn, vol.1 expertly rebacked retaining original spine and new endpapers

The 1850 tour begins in Brussels and covers Bruges, Antwerp, Bonn, Cologne, Koblenz, Ems, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt am Main, Homberg, Heidelberg, Baden, Strasbourg, Lucerne, Interlachen, Berne, Vevay, Geneva, Chamonix, Bienne, Basle, Malines, Calais, and ends at Dover. The 1853 tour begins in Boulogne and covers Amiens, Paris, Versailles, Orleans, Vichy, Lyons, Geneva, Vevay, Interlachen, Berne, Basle, Freiburg, Mainz, Koblenz, Trèves, Luxembourg, Epernay, Rheims, Paris, Boulogne and ends at Folkestone.
