Catalogue Note

A large collection of detailed charts, intended for use at sea, and quite possibly drawn there. The first map is located on the coast of Albania (p.1r) and the series continues from there around the coast of Greece and the Morea to Turkey and the offshore islands as far as Rhodes (p.28r). It then skips between points further east - Tripoli (p.34v), Acre (p.35v), Limasol (p.48v), Arnica (presumably Larnaca, p.49r) and various Greek islands - Santorini (p.39v), Paros (p.40r), Mikonos (p.41r), Crete (p.45v-47r) before continuing around the Mediterranean coast from Barutti (Beirut, p.50v) as far as Tangier (p.60r). This is then followed by a large folding chart of Constantinople, signed "Da me Fatto e corette Antonio Scorich Raguseo [i.e. from Dubrovnik]", together with remarks on the prevailing winds and currents of the area, navigational corrections, and observations on Rhodes and Cyprus.
