Catalogue Note
This work, some fifteen years in preparation, provides a detailed overview of the route taken by Rey and Chenavard on their five month journey from September 1843 through Greece, Asia Minor and Egypt. Most of the plates are of Greece (41), with 12 of Constantinople and Asia Minor, and just 2 of Egypt. Chenavard published his own account in 1858 entitled Voyage en Grèce et dans le Levant.
