Catalogue Note
A very impressive collection, including many uncommon photographs, overall with good dark tones. The vast majority of the photographs are of Constantinople and its vicinity and were taken by the well known photographers Berggren (121), Sebah (68) and Abdullah Frères (15), together with 25 unsigned photographs (many possibly by Sebah). It is possible that this collection was assembled in the nineteenth century for presentation.
