Catalogue Note

A rare and complete example of the first globe published in Munich.

Based on the inflatable globe of George Pocock, Cella's has more explanatory text and more records of discovery. A number of explorers are labelled, including Magellan 1521, Bermudez 1522 and Cano 1526. There are the tracks of the voyages of eleven explorers, including Cook, Clerk, Gore, La Perouse, Vancouver, Flinders, Ross and Parry, as well as the location of the mutiny on the Bounty in 1788.
