Catalogue Note

This work is a facsimile of the celebrated series of paintings commissioned by General Makryjannis sometime during the 1830s from the painter Panayotis Zographos. The subjects vividly depict episodes from the Greek war of independence, the last being a memorial list of the philhellenes active in Greece during the war.
