There are a few lines of craquelure scattered across the surface, including a line to the figure's cuff and a diagonal line to the figure's cheek and hat, both of which are lifting slightly. There is a speck of surface matter to the figure's sleeve and a small speck of staining to her shawl.
Ultraviolet light reveals infilling to lines of craquelure, including to the background upper right, lines behind the flowers,a line between the figure's eyes, to the aforementioned line on the figure' cheek and hat, to the figure's shoulder, to the right of the figure's face and to the centre of the left edge.
