Condition

Original canvas, however the reverse of the canvas has been primed. There is some minor frame rubbing and a few tiny spots of paint loss along the upper edge, otherwise the work appears in good overall condition. Under ultraviolet light there is a sweeping area of retouching above the mountains on the right hand edge and a small patch of flecked retouching to the sky upper left; there are further flecked retouchings to the shore lower right and lower left, as well as two frame abrasions along the upper and lower edge. Otherwise the work is in good original condition. Held in a gilt plaster frame. Please telephone the department on 020 7293 6321 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
