Description

  • tin, paint
John Barrymore was king of the silver screen in the early days of moving pictures. He was referred to as "the Great Profile," an apt nickname for this beautiful paddlewheeler. Riding low in the water, its superstructure, finished in white with gold trim, runs from nearly  stern to bow. The upper level is fitted with benches and covered with cloth canopies. Above dozens of cut-out windows are two paddlewheels amidships with covers marked "Loreley" over scrolling design. Other details include two red and white funnels, four ventilators, and a clockwork mechanism that powers the paddlewheels, wound by removing the bridge. There is a lithographed metal flag at stern and the rudder is stamped "Märklin."  The hull is finished in tan, cream, and deep green. This boat exudes an airiness touched with fresh breezes reminiscent of the lure of cool, freshwater travel.

Length: 29 ½ inches
