Description

  • tin, paint
Most likely a prototype. Orkin boats have always had their own following, their angular prows, light pressed steel hulls and decks are usually appreciated more by collectors of Buddy "L" than those of Märklin and Bing. They are large, attractive, toy-like and distinctly American. This fine battleship retains many of these features but achieves a more sophisticated look. It incorporates diecast lead and nickel-plated features and is more precise in its detail than the rest of the Orkin fleet. Featuring one revolving gun turret with two nickel plated guns at bow and two similar gun turrets mounted at stern. There is a multilevel superstructure  amidships that incorporates three tiered bridge and walkways. Other details include nickel-plated funnel,  mounted  searchlights, two ventilators, two lifeboats, and triple screw.

Length: 29 inches

Condition

Repainted, rudder assembly missing, wear to hull, small crack on side of deck near bow, funnel needs to be reaffixed to deck.
