Description

Long and lean to stealthily cut its way underwater, this submarine is fitted with two of three guns, periscope, radar antenna, and inverted lifeboat. Diving clockwork mechanism is accessed through a threaded airtight hatch on deck which turns the single propeller and four hull-mounted diving planes.

Featured in Toy Boats, by Jacques Milet and Robert Forbes, p. 76. The authors explain that the clockwork motors of top of the line Märklin U-Boats or submarines "had a thrilling automatic cycle. The submarine dived and returned to the surface time after time until the clockwork mechanism ran out at which point if submerged the sub rose again realistically to the surface."
