Description

  • tin, paint
The 19th century American Tin toy manufacturers accounted for most toys Americans bought. Their products were simpler, both in style and design, and were more whimsical and exaggerated in their approach than their German counterparts. This boat features stamped stenciled design on the roof, a transom, two tall funnels, and a pilot house, flanked by paddlewheel covers with cast spoked wheels. When the clockwork mechanism is wound, the boat rolls forward as the transom rocks back and forth.
