- Lapis lazuli, metal and coral stopper
well hollowed, of tapered rectangular form with paneled sides and cylindrical neck, the stone of a dark blue color densely suffused with a profusion of fine gold specks

This bottle is in very good condition. The color is slightly less purple than the print catalogue image suggests.

Catalogue Note
Lapis lazuli bottles of this paneled rectangular form are unusual, as most 18th century examples are either rounded or of shield shape. There are a number of 18th century jade bottles of this shape in the National Palace Museum collection, for which see Chang Lin-sheng, Snuff Bottles in the Collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 1991, p. 173, nos. 183 and 185.
