Catalogue Note

First octavo edition, published the same year and with the same imprint as the first, quarto, edition that included several scientific appendices. Captain Beechey's Narrative encompasses the whole theater of the Pacific Ocean and contains important material on Alaska, the California coast, San Francisco, and Monterey. Beechey also made land at Tahiti, Easter Island, Mangareva Island, Pitcairn Island (where he interviewed the last survivor of the Bounty mutiny, John Adams), and Hawaii. A handsome set.
