Autograph letter signed ("Will Hooper"), 1 page (9 1/8 x 7 1/4 in.; 232 x 185 mm) on a bifolium, Edenton, North Carolina, to Governor William Livingston of New York, address panel ("Favd. by the Hon. Mr. Cummings") and reception docket on verso of second leaf, docketed at foot of letter "from Gov. Livingstons papers"; small seal tear and repair, early repairs to two short fold separations on address leaf. Half blue morocco folding-case.

Catalogue Note

William Hooper provides a letter of introduction for a new member of the Continental Congress. "This will perhaps meet you in New York & be handed you there by Mr Wm Cummings a delegate from this state to Congress. He will be much at N York in the way of his appointment & sometimes perhaps at New Jersey in the way of Amusements. I take the liberty to ask your Attentions to him. This I do with full assurance when I say that he is my friend & a good man."
