Manuscript document signed ("John Hancock"), written in a neat clerical hand, 3 pages (12 3/8 x 7 3/4 in.; 315 x 197 mm) on a bifolium (watermarked English arms | gr), Boston, 24 April 1783, being Aaron Wood's appointment as "one of the Justices of the Court of Common Pleas in the County of Essex ... in all Causes wherein any of the standing Justices of the said Court are or may be interested, concerned or necessarily absent ...,"  countersigned by the Secretary of the Commonwealth ("John Avery Secy"), with a fine embossed seal of Massachusetts affixed at the upper left of first page; masterfully silked, a few tiny chips at folds.
