Printed bill of exchange (43/8 x 81/8 in.; 111 x 206 mm), accomplished in another hand, and signed twice by Salomon ("Haym Salomon"), Philadelphia, 13 February 1784, for Daniel Tyson, on verso passed on to William Pennock, docketed "copy of exchange, Haym Salomon, 13 February 1784, 1500 dollars"; formerly folded, cancelled with crossout on both sides not obscuring text. Red half-morocco slipcase, spine gilt, containing a news clipping on Salomon, and Copley bookplate.

Catalogue Note

Fine example of Salomon's signature on this bill of exchange issued on behalf of [the duke of?] Richmond to Daniel Tyson through the brokers Cohen, Isaacs and Mordecai. Daniel Tyson was a merchant who worked at 182 Water Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the last half of the eighteenth century.  According to probate records, he died in 1795.
