A group of 5 works from Clemens's library and one complimentary work by fellow humorist and close friend William Wright (a.k.a. Dan De Quille) from Clemens's  publisher Elisha Bliss.

Publisher's blue cloth blocked in blind; rebacked with original spine laid down, hinges reinforced. Inscribed on the half-title: "Sam'l L. Clemens | Hartford 1875." Provenance: Estelle Doheny (morocco ticket and sale, 1–2 February 1988, lot 466). Gribben 1:30 — Commines, Philippe de. Memoirs ... Containing the Histories of Louis XI and Charles VIII ... and of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy. London: Henry G. Bohn, 1856. Vol. II only.  Publisher's blue cloth blocked in blind, spine lettered gilt; hinges weak. Marginal comment in Clemens's hand on p. 35 ("Nowhere in this book, as far as I can remember, are the common people ever thought of), several emphatic sidebars in pencil.
