[the drama critic and family friend, Norman Hapgood], about a new platform and the publisher McClure. — Autograph letter signed ("S. L. Clemens"), one page on mourning stationery with 21 Fifth Avenue imprint, New York, 24 February 1906, to Govinier C. Hall, declining an invitation as he is too old to travel and thanking him for a book whose illustrations he finds are "bright, graceful & humorous & eloquently competenet, without the help of those mendicant aids, violence, distortion & extravagance"; a few spots and abrasions to the paper.
