Autograph letter signed ("S. L. Clemens"), 2 pages, Paris, 30 November 1894, to General Lloyd S. Bryce, former editor and proprietor of the North American Review, expressing satisfaction that Bryce received an article from him and regret that his illness (gout) and that of his family prevented him from writing an article on Joan of Arc; browned some soiling, offsetting in corners on blank versos from tape mounts, lower left corner of p. 2 chipped. — Autograph letter signed ("S. L. Clemens"), 2 pages, Vienna, 26 September 1898, to an unknown recipient but apparently a publisher, offering his article "The Memorable Assassination" (on the murder of the Empress of Austria in Geneva, 10 September 1898) for $600 instead of a "dream-story," also offers "The Platonic Sweetheart" as an option; browned along crease fold.
