Autograph letter signed ("Mark Twain"), one page, Hartford, 11 March 1885, to Charles Casey, regretting not having enough time to work on a problem: "I hurried all I could, but it was a very very severe strain upon that part of my bowels which is called my intellect & I perceived long ago that I had not asked for time enough on that problem by as much as two years." — Autograph letter initialed ("SLC"), one page, n.p. 25 August 1888 to neighbor and friend "Brer" (Henry C.) Robinson, declaring he has 16 more working days and will add another 120,000 words to his book which should be finished by October. — Autograph letter signed ("SL Clemens"), one page, Hartford, 2 March 1889, to Edward House, regrets signing a contract and requests evidence from House that will throw light upon the situation.
