Autograph letter initialed ("SLC"), 2 pages on one leaf of McIntyre Coal Company stationery, Elmira, 8 September 1879, wants a contract from the American Publishing Company for his next book to stipulate that they will not canvas any books but Clemens's  from the time of the signing of the contract until 9 months after the actual publication and issue of his book; soiled, abrasion along centerfold. — Autograph letter initialed ("SLC"), 2 pages on mourning stationery, 3 November [?1894], instructing him to eliminate any pictures that contain his wife or daughter and to make an amendment to the heading of the Puddn'head Maxims; soiled and creased, minor loss to right margin of first page. — Autograph note initialed ("SLC"), n.p., 18 June 1898, telling Bliss in which issue of Harper's Monthly he will find Susy's Memorial; pinhole in upper left corner. — Autograph letter signed ((S. L. Clemens"), 2 pages, Vienna, 27 February 1899, has written four articles on Christian Science and wants to know from Bliss whether or not to suppress them; silked, minor losses to margin of second page.
